Composition
- ORALYTE PLUS of 45 and 75 mEq/liter of sodium 400 ml and 250 ml bottles.
Indications
- Rehydrating solution, provides fluids and electrolytes for early treatment in the prevention of dehydration in infants and children with mild or moderate diarrhea and other states at risk of dehydration.
- It can also be used as an adjunct and maintenance after corrective parenteral treatment of severe diarrhea and vomiting.
- It is indicated to maintain adequate hydration in children in pediatric ages, who present an episode of acute diarrheal disease, regardless of its etiology.
- To restore the loss of electrolytes and fluids.

Directions for use
- The posology will depend on the age of the patient, as well as the severity of the symptoms. A child under 2 years of age may require up to 1000 ml in 24 hours; a child 2 years of age may require up to 2000 ml or more; an adult may require up to 3000 ml. Most importantly, the child should receive as much oral solution as he/she desires.
Precautions
- Patients with impaired renal function.
- If the patient is less than two years old, consult a doctor before starting rehydration therapy.
Contraindications
- Patients with incoercible vomiting.
- Do not use in patients with paralytic ileus or in patients with bowel obstruction or perforation.
- Neither in patients with altered level of consciousness or other contraindications for oral hydration.
